Scope
Use the Passport for the current rule
Georgia is open to many foreign buyers, but the first legal question is what kind of property is being acquired. Apartments, houses and non-agricultural plots follow a different analysis from agricultural land.
OwnASea separates national law, tax administration, registry procedure, bank products and market evidence. Conditional or under-review facts are never reduced to a simple yes/no answer.

Agricultural land is not an ordinary foreign purchase
The Organic Law on Agricultural Land Ownership creates a separate ownership regime. Inheritance and an investment-plan route are not the same thing as a general right for a foreign buyer to purchase agricultural land.

Use the official property register
Use an official NAPR extract to review registered ownership, obligations and restrictions. A private agreement and registered title are separate procedural stages.

What to remember
- Use the Georgia Country Passport as the source of truth for current structured values.
- Do not treat an under-review value as a verified national rule.
- Do not generalise non-agricultural ownership to agricultural land.
- Property ownership, residence, tax residence and citizenship are separate legal questions.
- Verify the specific transaction with the relevant Georgian authority and qualified professional.
